The word Dolium
is Latin for amphora, the distinctive bottles in which
the Italians and Greeks of the classical age stored
and traded wine.
Dolium is situated in Lujan de Cuyo,
Mendoza. The winery is run by Mario Giadorou and his
family, who continue their forefather's tradition of
wine making. It is a small winery that produces quality
wines and some of the best Malbecs available.
Interestingly, Dolium was the first
winery in Argentina to be constructed totally underground
to help achieve perfect temperatures and conditions
for the production of their wines.
Wine makers currently at Dolium
are Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barrud with consultancy
from Paul Hobbs.
They make the following wines, Chardonnay,
Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvigon, Malbec Rose, Malbec,
Malbec Reserva and the Malbec Gran Reserva. |
